The mission of Home Base, a Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Program, is to heal the invisible wounds for Veterans, Service Members and their Families through world-class clinical ca care. Home Base services are specifically designed to overcome common barriers to care for returning Veterans. We provide care to all Veterans and Families, regardless of ability to pay or discharge status, and utilize a “three generation” model of care that extends to parents, children, and extended family members who are effectively integrated into care. Our integrated team of child and adult psychiatrists, clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, nurses and nurse practitioners, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialists, licensed clinical social workers, addictions specialists, and peer-to-peer outreach coordinators – all of whom are Veterans and/or Family Members of the Post-9/11 wars – work together to ensure that Veterans and their Families receive or are connected to appropriate and uniquely-tailored care.re, wellness, education and research.

The work we do to Honor the Fallen was our beginning and we have since evolved from a charity, strictly geared towards building a tribute honoring Fallen Heroes, into a multifaceted organization. Massachusetts Fallen Heroes has developed a Veterans’ Edge program and now also act as a liaison in acquiring educational, employment, medical, legal, financial and numerous additional services to local military veterans, their families and families of the fallen. Veterans’ Edge ensures that all heroes returning home receive the support and services they have earned and deserve. Our outreach efforts, programs and events have united the Massachusetts Gold Star and Veteran communities in a unique bond of shared loss and healing.
Thanks to private donations and a generous donation from John B. Hynes III and Boston Global Investors, the Massachusetts Iraq and Afghanistan Fallen Heroes Memorial stands in Boston’s Seaport Park and serves as a public space for reflection and remembrance of those who gave their lives fighting for our freedom since September 11, 2001.
